Draw and adjust walls

Set wall height and thickness, draw continuous runs, join segments and edit curved walls.

Set up the Wall tool · W

Height and thickness beside the tools apply to the next segments you draw. Existing walls keep their own values.
SettingHow it works
Height (m)The wall’s vertical size. A fresh device starts at 1.7 m; values from 0 to 100 m are supported.
Thickness (m)The width across the wall’s centre line. Starts at 0.22 m; must be greater than 0 and no more than 20 m.
Remembered defaultsValid toolbar settings are remembered on this device across tools, floors, venues and reloads.

Use dimensions appropriate to the representation you want visitors to see. These are map appearance settings, not a replacement for a building survey.

Draw a continuous run

  1. Choose Wall or press W. Set its height and thickness.
  2. Click the start point, then the first endpoint. You can also drag the first segment.
  3. Continue clicking endpoints to extend the run. Each segment is committed separately and remains individually selectable.
  4. Hold Shift to constrain the next segment horizontally or vertically. Use point snapping to meet an existing endpoint.
  5. Press Enter, choose Finish run or press Escape once to end the run. Wall stays active for another run. A second Escape returns to Select.

Join walls cleanly

Walls meeting at the same endpoint, on the same floor and at the same base elevation, form joined corners. A wall endpoint meeting another wall’s centre line forms a T join. Maphere updates the join when you move or delete a segment.

  • Enable Point snapping to join endpoints accurately.
  • Enable Edge snapping to place an endpoint on another wall’s centre line.
  • Check floor and elevation if two segments appear connected in plan but do not join in 3D.
  • At very sharp angles, corners are clipped to avoid excessively long spikes. Check the preview rather than assuming every joint stays pointed.

Change an existing wall

  1. Press S and select the segment. Change its Height or Thickness in Geometry.
  2. Move its endpoint handles to change its path, or use the numeric properties for exact values.
  3. Press B and drag the round edge handle to bend the wall. Its thickness follows the new curve.
  4. Use Preview to inspect connected corners, then Save the draft.
