Rectangles and ellipses

Draw rectangular shops, circular kiosks and floor bases, then set their size, height and appearance.

Choose what you are drawing

The preset selector appears when Rectangle, Ellipse or Polygon is active. Choose it before drawing.
PresetStarting appearance and behaviour
SpaceNear-white, 1.5 m high, raised 0.12 m above the floor; creates a linked place.
Anchor storeCharcoal, 2.1 m high, raised 0.12 m; creates a place and starts with a surface label.
Food / diningPale cream, 1.5 m high, raised 0.12 m; creates a place using the food category where available.
FloorLight grey base, 0.08 m high at elevation 0; decorative geometry with no linked place.

These values are starting points. Change dimensions and appearance in Geometry afterwards. Category defaults and label overrides can change the label’s appearance independently of the shape’s fill.

Draw a rectangle · R

  1. Choose Rectangle or press R, then choose the preset.
  2. Press and drag between two opposite corners. Alternatively, click once for the first corner and again for the opposite corner.
  3. Hold Shift while placing the second corner for a square. Hold Alt if snapping is pulling the corner away from your intended position.
  4. Release or click to finish. The new object is selected and the tool returns to Select.
  5. Enter exact Width (m) and Depth (m) in Geometry, then press Enter.

Draw an ellipse or circle · O

An ellipse uses the same presets as a rectangle. The box you drag defines its width and depth.
  1. Choose Ellipse or press O. Pick Space or Food / dining if it represents a destination.
  2. Drag between opposite corners of its bounding box, or use two clicks.
  3. Hold Shift to keep the width and depth equal for a circle. Finish the shape and enter exact dimensions in Geometry if needed.
  4. Use Edit points & curves to adjust its outline. The ellipse starts with four curved quarters.

Create a shape using the keyboard

  1. Choose Rectangle or Ellipse using the toolbar or shortcut.
  2. Choose Add at centre to create a starting shape in the visible area.
  3. Use the Geometry fields to set its size and position. Focus the canvas for ↑ / ↓ / ← / → nudges.

Use this workflow when you know the dimensions already or prefer not to drag. The same validation, Undo and Save behaviour applies.

Check the result in 3D

  • Use the live 3D preview to check height and elevation. A tall floor base may hide entrances or lower objects.
  • Use Preview to check the place label and visitor card; a floor base has no place card by default.
  • If the outline needs a notch or more corners, use Polygon or add points with Edit points & curves.
  • If a shape is rejected, give it a non-zero width and depth. Crossing or degenerate outlines cannot be saved.
