Floors and reference plans

Organise a venue across floors and trace an accurately scaled floor-plan image.

Add and organise floors

Manage floors edits the current floor. Save floor updates the open draft; use the studio’s Save button to persist the draft.
  1. Use the floor selector in the studio to choose the floor you want to edit.
  2. Open the floor controls beside the selector to add a floor, or rename the current one.
  3. Set a clear name, a short name and its elevation in metres. Choose which floor visitors see first.
  4. Draw on the selected floor. To move an existing object to another floor, change its floor in Geometry.

Add a floor-plan image

The plan is an image underlay in the real studio. You draw the map’s geometry over it; it is not automatically converted into shapes.
  1. Select the correct floor. In the left panel, open References and choose Add reference image.
  2. Choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels. Export a PDF plan to one of these image formats first.
  3. Select the reference image in its list. Drag to position it, resize with a corner handle, or rotate with the round handle.
  4. Use the inspector to enter exact values or reduce opacity so your drawing stands out.

Set the scale before tracing

Choose two points with a known distance, enter that distance in metres, then Apply scale. Escape cancels the measurement.
  1. Select the reference and choose Set scale.
  2. Click two points on the plan with a known real-world distance between them.
  3. Enter that distance in metres. Maphere scales the image while keeping the first point in place.
  4. Check the result, then lock the reference using its padlock. Draw your spaces and walls over it.

Locked references cannot be moved accidentally and let you select objects above them. Select the image’s row to unlock it. Use the eye control to hide it when checking your work. Save after adding or adjusting references to keep their placement.
