Build your map

Draw and edit your map

Create spaces, curves, walls, paths, amenities and decorations, and use snapping to keep the layout tidy.

Choose a drawing tool

Each button has a tooltip and shortcut. Choose a detailed guide below for the complete workflow.
ToolHow to use it
RectangleChoose a preset, then drag or click two opposite corners.
EllipseDrag its bounding box. Hold Shift to make a circle.
PolygonClick each corner. Press Enter, choose Finish, or click the first corner to close it.
WallClick a start and continue clicking endpoints. Enter or Escape ends the run; the tool stays active.
PathChoose Walkway, Road or Trail and set Width before drawing. Click or drag to start, continue clicking, and snap to an existing path centre line to branch. Turns have rounded outside corners; roads show white centre dashes. Press B to bend a segment.
POI markerChoose an icon, then click to place a point of interest, such as a lift or entrance.
DecorationChoose a tree, shrub, planter or bench, then click to place it. The tool stays active for another.
SelectClick an object to select it, then drag to move it or edit its properties.
PanDrag the canvas. You can also hold Space and drag while another tool is active.

Presets help distinguish spaces: regular shops start near-white, anchor stores charcoal, food areas pale cream and amenities blue. You can adjust appearance in Geometry.

Change a shape, wall or path

  1. Select an object on the canvas or in Objects. Open Details if its properties panel is hidden.
  2. Use Geometry for exact position, size, height, elevation, colour and floor. Measurements use metres.
  3. Choose Edit points & curves, or press B. Drag square points to reshape the outline and round edge handles to bend an edge.
  4. Double-click a polygon edge to add a point, or use Add point in the tool controls. Use Straighten edge to remove a bend.

In Edit points & curves, Delete removes the selected polygon point; at least three points must remain. Wall and path endpoints cannot be removed this way. Return to Select before deleting a whole object.

Set wall height and thickness in the drawing toolbar before drawing. These settings apply to new wall segments. To change an existing segment, select it and use Geometry.

Snap and align objects

The bottom-left controls independently enable grid, point, edge and smart-guide snapping. The cursor shows a label when a snap target is active. Hold Alt to temporarily bypass snapping without changing your settings.

  1. Turn on point snapping to join corners or wall endpoints accurately.
  2. Use edge snapping to place a corner against an existing boundary.
  3. Choose Guide line to add a horizontal, vertical or angled alignment reference. From edge extends the direction of an existing edge.
  4. Right-click a snap control, or focus it and press Shift + F10, to adjust snap distance and grid spacing.

Duplicate, undo and work with the keyboard

Duplicate copies an object and its linked place independently, so you can rename the copy without renaming the original. Deleting geometry leaves its place information available to link to another object.

  • Use Ctrl / ⌘ + Z to undo and Ctrl / ⌘ + Shift + Z to redo.
  • With the canvas focused, ↑ / ↓ / ← / → nudge the selected object. Shift uses a larger step.
  • Use Add at centre with a drawing tool to create an object without dragging, then edit its properties.
  • Press S to return to Select. Escape cancels an unfinished operation.
