Select, move and pan

Move around the canvas, select the right object, and make exact geometry changes without disturbing the map.

Select an object · S

Choose the arrow tool or press S. Click a space, wall, path, marker or decoration to select it, or choose its row in Objects. The selected shape has a blue outline and handles; the right panel shows its properties.

Selection connects the object list, blue canvas outline and Geometry inspector.
  1. Use Find an object to locate a named place when the canvas is crowded.
  2. Choose its row, then open Details if the properties panel is hidden.
  3. Use Escape in Select mode to clear the selection. Selection itself does not change the draft.

Pan and zoom without moving objects

Move and resize accurately

  1. Select the object and drag its body to move it. Snapping aligns the object’s own corners or edges, rather than the point where you grabbed it.
  2. For exact changes, edit X (m), Y (m), Width (m) or Depth (m) in Geometry. Press Enter or leave the field to apply the value.
  3. With the canvas focused, nudge a selection using ↑ / ↓ / ← / →. Hold Shift for a larger step.
  4. Use Undo if the move or resize is not right. Save after completing your changes.
Width and Depth change the footprint. Height changes extrusion; Elevation raises the object above its floor.

Resizing a shape also transforms its label position and curved edges. A wall exposes wall-specific measurements instead of the same dimensions as a rectangular space. Its displayed length follows the path when it is curved.

Duplicate or delete a selection

  1. Press Ctrl / ⌘ + D to duplicate the selected object. The copy is offset so it does not exactly cover the original.
  2. Move the copy into position and change its place name. The copy has independent place information.
  3. In Select mode, Delete or Backspace removes the selected geometry. Undo restores it.

When a drag does not do what you expect

  • If the whole view moves, check that Pan or Space is not active. Press S to select.
  • If an object jumps towards nearby edges, hold Alt for free placement or adjust the snapping toggles.
  • A locked reference image or guide cannot be dragged; select its list row and unlock it first.
  • If you can inspect but not edit, check your workspace role. Viewer access does not allow drawing changes.
