Guide lines

Create reusable alignment lines, extend an existing edge, and control which guides participate in snapping.

Draw with private alignment guides · U

A guide is an infinite alignment line on one floor. Use it to keep shopfronts, walls or labels along a common direction. It is saved with the draft, but never appears in the 3D preview or visitor map.

Guide lines extend across the working canvas. Their anchor and angle can be edited independently of map geometry.

Choose a guide direction

ModeHow to place it
HorizontalClick once to place a horizontal line through that position.
VerticalClick once to place a vertical line through that position.
Two pointsClick two different points, or drag between them, to define an angle. Shift constrains horizontal or vertical placement.
From edgeClick near an existing space edge or wall centre line to extend its direction.
  1. Choose Guide line or press U, then select Guide direction.
  2. Place the line using the interaction for your chosen mode.
  3. The tool stays active so you can add more guides. Press S to return to Select; Escape cancels an unfinished guide.
  4. For keyboard placement, use Add at centre in Horizontal, Vertical or Two points mode, then set the anchor and angle in the inspector.

Snap to a guide or intersection

Turn on Smart guides (L). Visible guide lines then attract corners, moved shapes and label positions. Purple feedback identifies Guide or Guide intersection. At a crossing, the intersection can align both coordinates together.

When moving a whole shape, its corners and faces align with the guide. The arbitrary place where you grabbed the shape does not become the alignment reference.

Move, lock, hide or remove a guide

ActionEffect
Select and dragMoves an unlocked guide. Select an exposed part of the line or its row in Guides.
Inspector anchor and angleSets an exact position and direction.
LockPrevents dragging, nudging or deleting; the visible line remains available for snapping.
Eye controlHides that guide and removes it from snapping targets.
Shift + L / Show guide linesShows or hides all guide lines for the current editing session.
Delete / RemoveRemoves a selected, unlocked guide. Undo restores it.

Floors, saving and fitting the view

Each guide belongs to its own floor. Guide edits participate in Undo and Save. Fit ignores guide lines so an infinite line does not change the map’s framing. To delete a floor, remove its guides as well as its objects and reference images.
